The Palestinian Authority security forces are mobilizing some 2000 personnel to secure US President Donald Trump’s visit to Bethlehem on Tuesday.

“We are calling up forces from almost all over our branches,” a senior PA security official told The Jerusalem Post on Sunday.

Members of the PA’s Presidential Guard, National Security Forces, Preventative Security, Intelligence, and Police will participate in securing the American president’s visit to the holy city, according to the security official.

Trump is expected to arrive at the PA’s headquarters in Bethlehem Tuesday morning to meet with PA President Mahmoud Abbas before returning to Jerusalem.

A Police Spokesman Louay Zreikat said in a statement that a number of roads will be closed including much of the main thoroughfare that connects southern Jerusalem and Bethlehem and the main road that leads to the Church of the Nativity.

The PA security forces undertook similar measures in 2013 when former US President Barack Obama visited.
